NHL

Brad Scheifele, the father of Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele, passed away unexpectedly on Friday night.

Winnipeg Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff shared this sad news with reporters in Dallas on Saturday.

Head coach Scott Arniel went back to the team`s hotel to be with and support Mark Scheifele.

Speaking about Brad Scheifele, Captain Adam Lowry remarked, “Having spent my entire career here and been on numerous father-son trips, his energy was unparalleled. His genuine joy and enthusiasm for life were truly infectious and qualities he clearly passed down to Mark. Mark`s positivity and outlook on life are those of a genuinely happy person. This is a truly terrible loss.”

Lowry extended the team`s sympathy, adding, “Our heartfelt condolences go out to Mary Lou, Janelle, Kyle, and the entire Scheifele family. It`s a devastating loss, and it`s incredibly difficult to articulate the depth of sorrow we all feel for Mark and his family.”

Cheveldayoff noted that it was currently too early to determine if Mark Scheifele would be available to play in Game 6 against the Dallas Stars.
