The Minnesota Wild have announced they are adding a player with championship experience to their forward group. The team confirmed Tuesday that forward Nico Sturm has agreed to return to the Wild organization on a two-year contract.
The deal carries a total value of $4 million, breaking down to an average annual value (AAV) of $2 million.
Sturm, a 30-year-old left-shot center, began his NHL career with the Wild as an undrafted free agent, making his debut in the 2018-19 season. He spent parts of his first four professional seasons in Minnesota before being traded.
During the 2021-22 season, Sturm was a member of the Colorado Avalanche team that won the Stanley Cup. He was also acquired by the Florida Panthers last season and was part of their 2024 Stanley Cup championship squad. He appeared in eight playoff games for the Panthers.
Last season, split between the San Jose Sharks and the Florida Panthers, Sturm recorded a total of 7 goals and 14 points over 62 games played.
