UFC CEO Dana White has confirmed that a planned fight between middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev is indeed scheduled. However, White clarified that this highly anticipated bout will not take place at the UFC 317 event in June, as had been widely speculated.
During a recent press conference, White addressed the scheduling, stating, “Yes, yesterday I announced several fights, but it was not among them. We all know that the fight between Chimaev and Du Plessis will take place, but not during the International Fight Week. The match is scheduled, but it will happen in a different location.” This confirms the fight is on the books, though the date and venue remain undecided for now.
White`s confirmation comes after earlier reports suggested Du Plessis might be sidelined for an extended period due to injury. The champion himself later publicly denied these injury rumors, paving the way for discussions regarding his next title defense.
