Wayne Rooney didn`t seem to be in a festive mood during a sunny vacation in Ibiza with his smiling wife Coleen and cheerful friends, which included fellow football legends.
The 39-year-old former England and Manchester United star appeared downcast in a photograph taken in Ibiza, dressed in a T-shirt and cap.
In contrast, his companions, including former teammates John O’Shea and Michael Carrick along with their partners, were more exposed to the sun and openly enjoying cocktails.
Coleen shared the photo online, holding drinks in both hands, and captioned it simply: “Amazing time in Ibiza with great friends.”
However, many people who saw the photo noticed Wayne`s apparent lack of holiday spirit, with one social media user commenting: “Wayne needs to tell his face he is having a fab time.”
The sighting comes as reports suggest Rooney is being considered for a surprising potential return to football management, specifically in non-league football.
This follows his dismissal from Plymouth Argyle on New Year`s Eve.
Rooney left the club at the bottom of the Championship table after a disappointing seven-month period in charge.
During his tenure at Home Park, the 39-year-old secured just five victories from 25 matches.
Plymouth was ultimately relegated to League One at the end of the season, despite an improvement in performance under their subsequent manager, Miron Muslic.
Transfer journalist Alan Nixon has claimed that non-league club Macclesfield is now interested in appointing Rooney as their manager.
