Liverpool`s central defender, Virgil van Dijk, has indicated that he is approaching a contract renewal with Liverpool Football Club.
The current contract of the club`s captain is set to expire at the end of the season, along with those of key players Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Van Dijk shared encouraging news for Liverpool supporters, stating that he and his representatives have had productive discussions with the club regarding his future.
When questioned about his contract situation, Van Dijk confirmed, “Yes, there is progress.”
Further pressed on whether he would definitely remain at Liverpool, he responded, “I don’t know, we’ll see. These are internal discussions, and we will see what happens.”
It is anticipated that Trent Alexander-Arnold will move to Real Madrid as a free agent this summer.
Regarding Mohamed Salah, negotiations for a new contract are ongoing, with Liverpool hoping he will stay, although they are hesitant to meet his wage demands of £400,000 per week.
Virgil van Dijk, aged 33, has been an exceptional signing for Liverpool since his £75 million transfer from Southampton in 2018.
Reflecting on their recent 3-2 defeat to Fulham, Van Dijk commented, “I love the club, I love the fans, and they supported us once again at Fulham, and we wanted to repay them.”
“I hope they will be there again on Sunday and create the incredible atmosphere they always do for us at the stadium.”
Van Dijk was referencing the upcoming home game against West Ham.
Liverpool currently holds an 11-point lead at the top of the league with seven games remaining.
Manager Arne Slot was reportedly disappointed after Liverpool conceded three goals within the first 14 minutes against Fulham.
Van Dijk acknowledged, “We can discuss tactics, but the manager pointed out that our own sloppiness led to conceding three goals. It was unacceptable for us as a team.”

“However, we had another 50 minutes in the second half to try and recover, which was our focus, but unfortunately, we couldn`t achieve it.”
“It was a subpar performance from everyone. Individual errors occurred, and we should have managed those situations better.”
“In football, these moments can happen, but when you allow them back into the game, conceding three goals puts you on the defensive. No one is perfect, but we were careless and were quickly penalized.”
