Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof abruptly left the team`s recent match after his three-year-old son was urgently taken to the hospital due to a severe head injury.
Lindelof, the Swedish international, was initially expected to enter the Europa League game against Lyon last Thursday as a half-time substitute. However, he was instead removed from the squad, with Luke Shaw taking his spot.
Following the game, manager Ruben Amorim stated that Lindelof and teammate Noussair Mazraoui were absent from the squad for personal reasons.
Lindelof`s wife, Maja, later disclosed the reason: Victor had to rush to the hospital to be with their three-year-old son, Francis, who had suffered a severe domestic accident.

Maja shared the details, stating that an hour before the game began, their babysitter called to say their son was being taken to the hospital by ambulance.
She explained that Francis had suffered a deep gash to his forehead after falling into a glass staircase while chasing his older brother, Ted Louie. The injury was severe, requiring him to stay in the hospital on Thursday and Friday.
He required plastic surgery to close the wound and was given anaesthesia for the procedure.

Maja described the experience as incredibly difficult, saying it was the first time such a serious incident had happened to one of their children. She reported that the operation was successful and Francis is recovering well, back to his normal self.
Despite the worry, he seems unaffected and is living life as usual. Although doctors expect a significant scar, Maja expressed relief that the outcome was positive.
Lindelof returned to the Manchester United squad on Sunday, captaining the team against Wolves.
