Vancouver Canucks Secure Conor Garland on Six-Year, $36M Extension

NHL

The Vancouver Canucks have secured forward Conor Garland for the long term. The team announced Tuesday that Garland has signed a six-year contract extension worth an average of $6 million annually, totaling $36 million over the deal`s duration.

Canucks general manager Patrik Allvin emphasized Garland`s importance to the team in a news release, calling him a “core member” who has taken on a larger role over the past couple seasons. Allvin stated that the new contract demonstrates Garland`s confidence in the organization`s vision and direction.

He praised Garland`s competitive spirit, noting that he “competes hard every day, drives play on the ice, is relentless on the forecheck and is really tough to play against.” Allvin also highlighted Garland as an emerging leader within the group who works hard to maintain accountability for himself and his teammates.

In related comments, Garland expressed confidence in the Canucks` path forward, citing many positives from management and coaching staff to the player personnel.

Discussing his new deal and the team`s objectives, Garland stated that for the team, “it`s just about getting back into the playoffs.” He also mentioned that the team doesn`t concern itself with “outside noise.”
