Thomas Tuchel suggests that Arsenal and Liverpool will hold a significant advantage in the forthcoming Premier League title race.
The England coach believes the upcoming Club World Cup tournament could notably impact the prospects of Manchester City and Chelsea.
This FIFA competition, held in the US, commences this weekend and concludes on July 13th. This timing leaves merely five weeks before the start of the new Premier League season.
Following the Club World Cup, players from Chelsea and City are scheduled for holidays and will therefore miss a traditional pre-season period before the domestic campaign gets underway.
Speaking while preparing for the friendly match against Senegal in Nottingham, Tuchel commented, “It will have a huge impact, and it will give Liverpool and Arsenal a huge advantage next season by not being involved.”
He added, “It will undoubtedly be a very nice experience for the players participating in this tournament for the first time, so there are mixed feelings about it.”
“I have decided not to worry too much about it,” he continued, “because why should I? Nobody knows the final outcome.”
“We will simply address the consequences when they arise,” Tuchel concluded.
Despite his involvement in the Club World Cup, Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane is expected to start for England tonight.
Tuchel also commented on player selection, stating, “If you were to ask the players, you`d find 25 who all want to start.”
He acknowledged club concerns, stating, “The clubs are naturally concerned, and I understand that after a long season.”
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson might earn his third England cap against Senegal.
Jude Bellingham missed training yesterday to attend a family funeral but is anticipated to be on the substitute bench.
Al-Ahli striker Ivan Toney, who did not feature in Saturday`s 1-0 victory against Andorra, will have to wait to see if he gets playing time.
Tuchel confirmed Toney`s chances, saying, “He has every chance to play.”
