Tragic Demise of Footballer Aaron Boupendza at 28

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has expressed his grief following the death of football player Aaron Boupendza, who passed away at the age of 28.

Boupendza, a Gabonese international with 35 caps and a former teammate of Aubameyang, reportedly died in China after falling from the 11th floor of a building.

Boupendza had recently joined Zhejiang FC in China in January and was playing in the Far East.

Throughout his career, the striker played for various clubs, including Bordeaux in France and Hatayspor in Turkey.

Before his move to China, Boupendza also had stints in America with Cincinnati and in Romania with Rapid Bucuresti.

For Zhejiang, his latest team, Boupendza impressively scored four goals and provided six assists in just six games.

According to Fanatik, an investigation has been launched into the circumstances surrounding Boupendza’s death.

Reports indicate he missed his team`s recent training session “without explanation,” and club officials were unable to reach him.

Aubameyang publicly acknowledged the tragic news on Instagram, expressing his sorrow with the words: “I have no words. Rest in peace, my brother.”

Hatayspor, his former club, also shared a tribute on social media, stating: “We are deeply saddened to hear about the death of Aaron Boupendza, who was a player for Hatayspor in the 2020/21 season and became the league`s top scorer. We offer our deepest condolences to his family, loved ones, Zhejiang FC, and the football community. Rest in peace, king.”

The Gabonese Football Federation released a statement confirming: “The Gabonese international passed away after falling from the 11th floor of his apartment building in China, where he was representing Zhejiang FC. At 28 years old, Boupendza will be remembered as a remarkable striker who made a significant impact at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.”

Fans have taken to social media to pay their respects to Boupendza.

Another wrote: “Rest in peace, Aaron.”

Many others have echoed these sentiments, expressing shock and sadness at the news.
