Portugal`s victory over Spain in the Nations League final was overshadowed by a tragic event.
Before the match concluded, a spectator suffered a fatal fall from the second level of the main stand into the seating area beneath.

Although medical personnel quickly attended to the individual, they were tragically unable to save their life.
UEFA confirmed the fatality, stating the fan passed away shortly after the incident occurred at the Allianz Arena.
A statement from UEFA read: “Following a medical emergency at the Munich arena, and despite exhaustive efforts by the medical team, the individual unfortunately passed away at 00:06 (CET). We extend our deepest sympathies to their family and friends during this difficult time.”
The tragic news was conveyed to both teams, and Spain`s coach, Luis de la Fuente, acknowledged the fatality during his post-match press conference.
Despite his team`s loss, he offered his condolences to the bereaved family.
De la Fuente stated: “I wish to offer my condolences to the family of the fan who passed away. This tragedy reminds us of what truly matters in life.”

Nuno Mendes, who was named Man of the Match, also commented on the tragedy during his interview.
The Portuguese player acknowledged that the death cast a shadow over their win.
He added: “I extend my condolences to the family of the deceased fan. It certainly diminishes the joy of our victory today.”

Portugal`s manager, Roberto Martinez, described the death as “extremely sad news”.

Portugal ultimately secured the victory in Germany following a penalty shootout.
Martin Zubimendi initially put Spain ahead, but Mendes equalised for Portugal.
Spain regained the lead in the 45th minute via Mikel Oyarzabal, only for Cristiano Ronaldo to level the score once more.
In the penalty shootout, Alvaro Morata missed a key spot-kick, allowing Ruben Neves to score the winning penalty for Portugal.
