UFC featherweight champion Ilia Topuria has announced his intentions to move up to the lightweight division.
The Georgian fighter confidently stated, “I am the UFC lightweight champion. I am absolutely certain of this, otherwise I would not have decided to change weight classes. I only engage in fights I am confident I can win. None of the lightweights are at my level.”
It is worth recalling that in late February, Topuria mentioned relinquishing his featherweight belt to compete in the lightweight division. He officially remains the featherweight champion until his title becomes vacant at the start of the fight between Alexander Volkanovski and Diego Lopez, scheduled for April 14.
