Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall offered his perspective on why a potential clash with undisputed champion Jon Jones has yet to be officially confirmed.
Aspinall stated, “From my side, I can`t really influence the speed of this process. I believe the hold-up is primarily related to financial discussions, and I think the delays are coming from Jon Jones`s camp. I`m prepared to fight him whenever and wherever he wants. Ultimately, though, I suspect it boils down to money.”
He elaborated on the potential challenge he poses, adding, “Statistically speaking, I represent a very dangerous opponent in the UFC right now. Putting him in the octagon against someone my size with my career achievements – I think Jon is shrewd and understands the situation. That`s likely why he`s seeking significant compensation,” Aspinall`s comments were reported by MMA Mania.
It`s worth noting that Aspinall has not competed since July of the previous year, when he secured a knockout victory over Curtis Blaydes.
