Stuttgart Draw: World’s Best Tennis Stars Ready for Action

The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix draw took place on Sunday, setting the stage for a high-stakes WTA 500 tournament in Stuttgart. This indoor clay-court event, a key part of the European clay season, will showcase eleven of the world`s Top 20 players at the Porsche-Arena.

The champion in singles will be awarded €142,610, 500 WTA ranking points, and a Porsche Macan Turbo – one of the most desired prizes on the tour.

Main draw matches are scheduled to begin on Monday, April 14, and the tournament will conclude with the singles final on Monday, April 21. Notably, there will be no matches on Friday, April 18, due to Good Friday.

The tournament`s top four seeded players, who also hold the top four positions in the WTA rankings, will each receive a bye in the first round.

Draw Highlights

First Quarter

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed in the draw. She is aiming for her first Stuttgart title after finishing as runner-up for the past three years (2021-2023). After her first-round bye, Sabalenka is set to play either Anastasia Potapova or Clara Tauson in the second round. If the seedings hold, a quarterfinal match against No. 8 seed Diana Shnaider could be on the horizon.

Second Quarter

No. 4 seed Coco Gauff leads the second quarter and will face the winner of the Danielle Collins versus wild card Tatjana Maria match in her opening second-round match.

This quarter includes all four German wild card entrants. No. 5 seed Jasmine Paolini is positioned at the opposite end of this quarter and might face German wild cards in her first two matches. A potential second-round matchup between Paolini and 2017 champion Laura Siegemund is possible.

Third Quarter

This quarter could potentially feature a quarterfinal showdown between two of the most successful players of the year so far: No. 3 seed Jessica Pegula and No. 6 seed Mirra Andreeva, assuming seedings are maintained.

Pegula arrives in Stuttgart fresh off winning the first WTA 500 clay-court title of the season in Charleston. She currently leads the WTA Tour in main-draw match wins this year with 25.

However, 17-year-old Andreeva is close behind in victories, having already won 20 matches this season. Her performance has been boosted by winning consecutive WTA 1000 titles in Dubai and Indian Wells.

Fourth Quarter

No. 2 seed Iga Swiatek is placed at the bottom of the draw. Swiatek has an impressive 10-1 record in Stuttgart, having won the tournament in both 2022 and 2023. Her winning streak was broken by Elena Rybakina in last year`s semifinals.

If Swiatek reaches the quarterfinals, she might face No. 7 seed Emma Navarro. Another potential opponent for Swiatek in the quarterfinals is Jelena Ostapenko, a former Roland Garros champion who holds a 5-0 head-to-head record against Swiatek.
