Strickland Predicts Du Plessis Will Beat Chimaev

MMA

Former UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland shared his belief that current titleholder Dricus Du Plessis possesses the capability to hand Khamzat Chimaev the first loss of his career in their anticipated bout.

“Chimaev knows how to wrestle. I`ve trained with guys like that for years, and I could usually counter and wrestle with them. So I just don`t know if Dricus can handle his wrestling. But if he can, I think he`ll win, no problem.”

Strickland elaborated on his prediction during an interview, focusing on the grappling aspect of the matchup.

“I`ve sparred with the Chechen. Honestly, I think Dricus will win. It all depends on whether he can stop Chimaev`s takedown and counter-wrestle him, but it`s not that hard,” Strickland stated.

Dricus Du Plessis and Khamzat Chimaev are scheduled to face off on August 17th in Chicago, USA, headlining UFC 319.
