Former Chelsea captain John Terry recently completed the 2025 London Marathon alongside his ex-Blues teammate, Jody Morris. Following the demanding race, Terry shared a personal moment of recovery online.

The ex-England defender faced several challenges during the 26.2-mile event. He suffered from nipple chafing, visible as blood on his T-shirt when shown on television, and was also forced to slow down to a walk at one point due to painful cramp.

Despite the discomfort and scorching conditions, the 44-year-old Chelsea legend successfully completed the course in just over five hours.
The morning after the marathon, Terry took to his Instagram story to share a picture showing his wife, Toni, giving him a leg massage to help ease his soreness. He playfully captioned the image, “Stiff in all the wrong places.”

He later shared additional posts documenting his recovery methods, including time in a sauna and an ice bath.
Other well-known figures also participated in the event. Former Juventus defender Leonardo Bonucci finished just two minutes behind Terry and Morris, while Arsenal favourite Jack Wilshere, who had managed Norwich the day before, completed the marathon in five hours and four minutes.
Speaking at the finish line, Terry remarked that the marathon was “the toughest thing I`ve ever done.”
Since retiring from playing in 2018 after a spell at Aston Villa, Terry has pursued a coaching career. He served as an assistant manager at Villa Park and later held a coaching consultancy position at Chelsea. He returned to coaching alongside Dean Smith at Leicester City in 2023 before taking on a role as a Chelsea academy coach in July of that year.
