People think he cleaned out the middleweight division and moved up to light heavyweight, but that`s not the case. He lost. And when he lost, he was no longer the champion and didn`t have to remain the division leader. He gained his freedom and could go wherever he wanted. So his move up to light heavyweight had nothing to do with dominating the light heavyweight division and beating Ankalaev. The fight was close, he defended against the takedowns, it added intrigue – let it stay that way. There`s no shame in that. But if there is a rematch and he loses twice in a row, then there will be a reason for shame,` Sonnen said.
