Reports indicate that Sky Sports plans to revive a widely popular broadcasting format for its viewers` screens.
The media company is reportedly planning to bring back a Sunday program dedicated to reviewing media coverage, reminiscent of the former fan-favorite show, Sunday Supplement.
Sunday Supplement, which aired for 20 years, was cancelled by Sky Sports back in 2020.
However, according to reports such as those in the Mail Online, the company has now decided to resurrect the format itself, though the original name will not be used.
The original Sunday Supplement featured industry insiders and journalists discussing the key football events from the weekend and previewing major news stories expected in the upcoming papers.
Despite its absence from television screens for five years, Sky did continue to offer a version of the show in podcast form during the intervening period.
It is claimed that Sky Sports is expected to make an official announcement regarding the show`s return in the coming weeks.
When approached for comment by SunSport, Sky Sports declined to provide a statement.
The show first became part of Sky`s lineup in 1999 under the initial name of `Hold The Back Page`.
The program was first hosted by former Match of the Day presenter Jimmy Hill, and other hosts over the years included Brian Woolnough and Neil Ashton.
Notable journalists who participated as panelists on the show included figures like Henry Winter and Oliver Holt.
Sky previously cited the congested football calendar following the Covid-19 pandemic as one of the reasons for their decision to take Sunday Supplement off the air.
