Senators Secure Victory Over Devils with Strong Second Period

NEWARK, N.J. — The Ottawa Senators defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-2 on Saturday night, highlighted by a three-goal surge in the second period, with David Perron netting the decisive power-play goal.

Brady Tkachuk and Drake Batherson also contributed goals for the Senators, who have now won seven of their last nine games. Goaltender Linus Ullmark was solid in net, stopping 25 shots.

For the Devils, Nico Hischier and Erik Haula found the back of the net. The team has been struggling recently, losing three of their last four contests. Goalie Jake Allen made 16 saves in the game.

Tkachuk initiated the scoring for Ottawa in the second period at 4:05, followed shortly by Batherson, who doubled their lead just 33 seconds later at 4:38.

Hischier narrowed the gap with a power-play goal at 7:13, marking his 30th goal of the season and extending his point streak to six games.

However, Perron quickly responded, extending the Senators` lead to 3-1 at 8:44 of the second period.

Haula managed to bring the Devils within one goal again late in the third period, scoring with only 23 seconds remaining in the game.

In a frantic final 20 seconds, New Jersey pressed hard for the equalizer, but Ullmark stood tall, making crucial saves, and Sanderson cleared a dangerous puck to secure the Senators` win.
