The Seattle Kraken have officially signed one of their promising young defensive prospects to a contract.

The team announced Sunday that defenseman Kaden Hammell has been signed to a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $908,333.

Kraken General Manager Jason Botterill released a statement regarding the signing: “Kaden took another positive step in his development this year. He was a leader on the Silvertips and elevated his game in the playoffs. We`re excited to have him under contract for the next three years.”

The 20-year-old blueliner had a productive season with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL. He accumulated 38 points, scoring 10 goals and adding 28 assists, across 59 regular-season games. Hammell also contributed significantly in the post-season, tallying 13 points (four goals, nine assists) in 13 playoff contests.

A native of Langley, British Columbia, Hammell was selected by the Kraken in the fifth round, 148th overall, during the 2023 NHL Entry Draft.
