Sean O’Malley’s Coach Discusses Potential Move to Featherweight

MMA

Tim Welch, the coach for former UFC bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley, has indicated that a future transition to the featherweight division is a possibility for his fighter.

“Moving to featherweight is definitely possible. Sean is 180 cm tall, and his usual weight is 73 kg. If we spend about six to seven months to add a couple of kilos of muscle, he can easily compete with most featherweights,” Welch was quoted as saying by BJ Penn.

Looking ahead, O’Malley is set for a rematch against Merab Dvalishvili. This fight will take place on June 7th as the main event of UFC 316 in Newark, USA. Dvalishvili previously defeated O`Malley for the title last September.
