Sabres Win Against Senators on Thompson’s Third-Period Goal

NHL

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Tage Thompson scored the crucial goal early in the third period, leading the Buffalo Sabres to a 3-2 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday night. This win marked a significant milestone for Sabres coach Lindy Ruff, securing his 600th win with the franchise, making him only the second coach in NHL history to achieve this feat with a single team.

Jack Quinn and Jacob Bernard-Docker also contributed to Buffalo`s score, while goalie James Reimer was solid in net, stopping 30 shots and earning his first pair of consecutive wins this season. Lindy Ruff, currently in his first season of his second tenure with Buffalo, now holds a franchise record of 600-467-90, along with 78 ties.

Ruff is only surpassed by Al Arbour, who holds the record with 740 wins for the New York Islanders.

For the Senators, Brady Tkachuk and David Perron managed to score power-play goals. Anton Forsberg, the Senators` goalie, blocked 21 shots, but unfortunately, Ottawa couldn`t maintain their leads, losing two one-goal advantages during the game.
