The entry list for the prestigious Internazionali BNL d`Italia in Rome has been announced, promising a high-caliber WTA 1000 clay-court tournament this spring.
All top-ranked players, specifically the top 71 as of April 7th, are confirmed to participate in this year`s 82nd edition of the event. The main draw matches are scheduled to commence on Tuesday, May 6th.
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka and No. 2 Iga Swiatek are the top seeds and are expected to compete for the title, potentially recreating last year`s final where Swiatek defeated Sabalenka.
The top 5 is rounded out by American players: Jessica Pegula, currently at a career-high No. 3 ranking after her Charleston victory, Coco Gauff, and Madison Keys.
Italian fans will be excited to watch World No. 6 Jasmine Paolini, the highest-ranked Italian player, as she aims for her first home title.
Former Rome champions Iga Swiatek (2021, 2022, and 2024), Elina Svitolina (2017 and 2018), and Elena Rybakina (2023) are also on the entry list.
Madison Keys reached the Rome final in 2016, losing to Serena Williams. Other past Rome finalists in this year`s draw include Victoria Azarenka (2013), Ons Jabeur (2022), and Anhelina Kalinina (2023).
Petra Kvitova and Bianca Andreescu, both Grand Slam champions, are among four players using special rankings to enter the main draw. Sorana Cirstea and Anastasija Sevastova are also entering via special ranking.
Renata Zarazua of Mexico, ranked World No. 71, is the last direct entry. Caroline Dolehide (USA) and Alexandra Eala (Philippines) are the first and second alternates respectively. Eala recently achieved new milestones for the Philippines, breaking into the Top 100 after reaching the Miami semifinals.
