Rockhold: Makhachev Won’t Dominate Welterweight

MMA

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold shared his thoughts on the potential move of current lightweight champion Islam Makhachev to the welterweight division.

Rockhold expressed skepticism about Makhachev`s potential for dominance in the higher weight class.

I think he will not dominate so much. But I am sure Islam has become stronger, bigger. A lot of time has passed since our joint training sessions. We are all growing, in every sense. I think Islam will look good with welterweights. He will gain muscle mass.

He also shared a personal anecdote about training with Makhachev:

But I have always had problems with Islam. When I fought Machida, I took Makhachev for sparring. And it was not easy to deal with him.

Rockhold made these remarks in an interview with Submission Radio.
