Manchester United are currently struggling in the Premier League, positioned in 13th place, 15 points away from the top four.

Their Europa League quarter-final match against Olympique Lyon in France is crucial, as it represents Amorim`s main opportunity to secure silverware in his debut season at Old Trafford.

Since taking over from Erik ten Hag, Amorim has implemented a significant tactical change, shifting from a 4-2-3-1 formation to a 3-4-2-1 system, which was highly successful during his time at Sporting Lisbon.

During the January transfer window, the club made cautious investments, bringing in Patrick Dorgu from Lecce to address the left wing-back injury situation, and Ayden Heaven from Arsenal to bolster the central defense with youth.

Ferdinand suggests that four key signings could initiate a turnaround at Old Trafford and guide Manchester United back to a successful path.

Speaking on his show, Rio Ferdinand Presents, he stated that while Gary Neville believes five players are needed, he also thinks four or five additions are necessary, considering financial fair play constraints.

Ferdinand highlighted the need for a central midfielder to partner with Manuel Ugarte, capable of progressing the ball to Bruno Fernandes and the forwards. He recommended Adam Wharton for this role.

Wharton, 21, plays for Crystal Palace, joining from Blackburn Rovers in January 2024 for £22.5 million. His impressive performances have earned him a place in England`s Euro 2024 squad.

Addressing Manchester United`s goal-scoring difficulties with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee, Ferdinand proposed a striker from the Turkish Super Lig.

Ferdinand advocated for signing Victor Osimhen, emphasizing the need for experience and a proven goal scorer to guide the younger strikers at Manchester United.

He believes Osimhen`s consistent elite-level scoring record makes him an ideal acquisition for Manchester United.

Osimhen, a 26-year-old Nigerian, scored 31 goals as Napoli won the Serie A title in 2022-23 and followed up with 17 goals the next season. Currently on loan at Galatasaray, he has scored 26 goals for the Turkish league leaders.

Ferdinand also suggested Matheus Cunha as a target, noting the Brazilian`s potential departure from Wolves as an opportunity.

He stated his interest in signing Cunha, especially given the player`s hinted desire to leave, despite recently signing a new contract.

Cunha has scored 13 goals in 26 Premier League games this season, and his scoring ability and versatility in attack could make him a valuable signing for Amorim.

Lastly, Ferdinand recommended Jeremie Frimpong, a former Manchester City academy player who has excelled in the Bundesliga as a right wing-back.

Ferdinand believes Frimpong would be a great addition at right wing-back.

Frimpong, a Netherlands international playing for Bayer Leverkusen, has been linked with Liverpool as a potential replacement for Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The 24-year-old has contributed significantly to Bayer Leverkusen`s Bundesliga success with 11 assists and four goals in 43 appearances.
