Reilly Smith, an original member of the “Golden Misfits,” is back to stay with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Veteran forward Reilly Smith, who was part of the Golden Knights` inaugural team in 2017, has reportedly agreed to a one-year contract extension valued at $2 million. This deal means Smith will not become an unrestricted free agent.
Smith previously played for Vegas from 2017 to 2023 before being traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he spent one season. He then joined the New York Rangers. The 34-year-old forward was reacquired by the Golden Knights at the 2025 trade deadline.
Last season, Smith accumulated 13 goals and 40 points over 79 games played for both the Rangers and the Golden Knights.
Hailing from Etobicoke, Ontario, the veteran forward has appeared in 919 career NHL games across 14 seasons, recording a total of 226 goals and 553 points.
Before joining Vegas in 2017, Smith`s NHL career included stints with the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, and Dallas Stars.
