Red Wings Cruise to Victory Over Utah, Break Six-Game Road Losing Streak

NHL

SALT LAKE CITY — Alex Lyon stepped in for injured starter Petr Mrazek and delivered 16 saves, leading Detroit to a win against Utah.

Lyon took over goaltending duties early in the game after Mrazek left just 1:38 into the first period due to a possible lower body injury. Mrazek appeared to be hurt when Dylan Guenther collided with him during a breakaway attempt. He was helped off the ice and went directly to the dressing room.

Elmer Soderblom, Marco Kasper, Austin Watson, Alex DeBrincat, and Tyler Motte each scored for Detroit, helping the team end their six-game road losing streak.

For Utah, Guenther reached a milestone of 100 career points, netting his 26th goal of the season. Karel Vejmelka recorded nine saves, making his 14th consecutive start, a career high.
