Rankings Watch: Sierra Reaches Career Peak with Winning Streak

Sports News

The latest PIF WTA Rankings update is relatively calm at the top, with no changes in the Top 50 due to a quiet week on the main tour and WTA 125 level.

However, strong performances at ITF tournaments hint at potential future breakthroughs. Anastasia Zakharova won the Zaragoza ITF W100, and Solana Sierra triumphed at the Bellinzona ITF W75.

Sierra`s victory in Switzerland marks her tenth consecutive win. Having previously secured her first WTA 125 title in Antalya, her 2025 record stands at an impressive 21-5. This consistent success propels the 20-year-old Argentinian up ten spots from No. 119 to a career-best No. 109.

Zakharova`s win in Spain was her third ITF W100 title in ten months and her first on clay. The 23-year-old Russian player jumps twenty places from No. 127 to No. 107, nearing her career high of No. 106 achieved last November.

Teenagers Quevedo and Ekstrand Show Promise

Spanish wildcard Kaitlin Quevedo surprised at Zaragoza, reaching the final and defeating No. 2 seed Olivia Gadecki for her first Top 100 win. Quevedo, 19, improved significantly in 2024, rising from No. 726 to No. 317. Her recent final appearance pushes her up 66 places from No. 332 to a new career high of No. 266.

American 17-year-old wildcard Monika Ekstrand also excelled on home soil, winning her first professional title at the Jackson ITF W35 and climbing 445 places from No. 1,176 to No. 731.
