Pimblett is preparing to fight Makhachev next year

MMA

UFC lightweight prospect Paddy Pimblett has revealed his ambition to face current division champion Islam Makhachev as early as next year.

“Following my fight with Chandler, my goal is to take on a top 5 opponent – names like Charles Oliveira, Justin Gaethje, or Dustin Poirier come to mind. Given my current ranking at number seven, challenging Islam directly isn`t feasible yet. Therefore, the strategy is to secure a fight with someone in the top five in Abu Dhabi, paving the way for a championship clash with Islam the following year,” Pimblett explained to the press and fans in London.
