Boko Imama will return to the Pittsburgh Penguins after his 2024-25 season was cut short due to injury.

The Penguins announced on Friday that they have signed Imama to a new one-year deal. The contract has an average annual value (AAV) of $775,000.

Imama successfully underwent surgery in late March to repair a bicep injury. At the time, the Penguins estimated his recovery would take four to six months.

The 28-year-old forward was playing in his fourth NHL season before the injury. He appeared in 16 games, recording one goal and 30 penalty minutes. He also played 24 games in the AHL, where he registered five points.

Imama was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. Before joining Pittsburgh, he played for the Arizona Coyotes and Ottawa Senators at the NHL level.
