Fifth-seeded Jasmine Paolini faced a strong challenge from wildcard entrant Jule Niemeier but ultimately prevailed to secure a spot in the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix quarterfinals for the second consecutive year. Paolini won the match 6-1, 7-5, saving a crucial set point in the second set.
Niemeier demonstrated her talent, highlighted by an impressive tweener shot in the second set. Chasing down a lob from Paolini, Niemeier executed a remarkable between-the-legs shot that was both powerful and well-angled, forcing Paolini to stretch at the net. However, Paolini responded effectively, hitting a volley winner to hold serve at 3-3.
Paolini`s resilience in the crucial moments of the match proved to be the deciding factor. After winning seven games in a row against a struggling Niemeier to take a 6-1, 2-0 lead, Paolini had to fight off Niemeier`s attempted comeback. Niemeier managed to break Paolini`s serve twice, and even had a set point, but she then made a backhand error. Paolini then showcased her best groundstrokes, winning the final three games to clinch the match.
Paolini progresses to her second quarterfinal of 2025 and is set to compete against either fourth seed Coco Gauff or German lucky loser Ella Seidel in her next match.
