After a decade of collaboration, Jasmine Paolini and her coach Renzo Furlan have decided to end their professional relationship. The world`s sixth-ranked player, Paolini, shared the news on social media, expressing gratitude to Furlan, who was recognized as WTA Coach of the Year in 2024.
Paolini acknowledged Furlan`s significant impact on her development as both an athlete and individual. She emphasized that his teachings will remain valuable as she embarks on a new phase in her career, highlighting his enduring importance in her life.
Furlan dedicated himself fully to coaching Paolini starting in 2020. His guidance was instrumental in Paolini`s impressive rise to a career-high ranking of world No. 4, marked by reaching Grand Slam finals at Roland Garros and Wimbledon. He received the WTA Coach of the Year award for these achievements.
Their successful partnership also saw Paolini win an Olympic gold medal in doubles with Sara Errani, qualify for the WTA Finals in both singles and doubles for the first time, and contribute to Italy`s Billie Jean King Cup victory.
Paolini`s announcement comes shortly after her semifinal appearance at the Miami Open, where she was defeated by Aryna Sabalenka. In 2025, she holds a 12-6 win-loss record in singles.
Paolini expressed deep appreciation for Furlan`s commitment, energy, and sacrifices, particularly being away from his home and family. She reiterated her respect for his professionalism, passion, and the principles he instilled in her throughout their years of working together.
