Oilers’ Stuart Skinner Injury: Day-to-Day Status

NHL

It appears the Edmonton Oilers will not have to play without their starting goalie for an extended period.

Stuart Skinner, who exited Wednesday`s game against the Dallas Stars in the third period, is being evaluated on a day-to-day basis, according to head coach Kris Knoblauch. Knoblauch made this announcement to reporters on Thursday before their game against the Seattle Kraken.

Skinner`s injury occurred late in Wednesday`s game when Dallas Stars winger Mikko Rantanen accidentally made contact with Skinner`s head with his knee. Despite appearing unintentional, the collision led to Skinner leaving the game, with backup goalie Calvin Pickard taking his place.

Following the game, Coach Knoblauch informed reporters that Skinner would not be traveling with the team. Pickard is scheduled to start for the Oilers in their game against the Kraken.

This season, Skinner has played in 49 games, maintaining a 2.91 goals-against average and a save percentage of .894.

Knoblauch also mentioned that Mattias Ekholm will be resting for the second game of the back-to-back. In his place, Ty Emberson and John Klingberg will be rejoining the lineup.
