Former NHL superstar and longtime Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews is reportedly planning a comeback to the league next season after a two-year hiatus.

Toews, currently 37, last played during the 2022-23 NHL season. In August 2023, he publicly announced he was stepping away from hockey to focus on his health and well-being.

Notably, he also missed the entire 2020-21 season due to recovery from COVID-19 and Chronic Immune Response Syndrome.

After leaving the NHL, Toews shared updates on his health journey, including undergoing an Ayurvedic Panchakarma detox in India in late 2023, detailing the experience in interviews.

He now aims to continue a remarkable career that includes winning three Stanley Cups and two Olympic gold medals.

Across 15 NHL seasons, all played with Chicago, Toews appeared in 1,067 regular-season games, accumulating 372 goals and 511 assists. He earned the moniker `Captain Serious` for his reliable two-way play and performance in crucial moments.

Reflecting on retirement and his desire to return in a December interview, Toews stated, “I`ve talked to a lot of the guys that are done, and a lot of them will say that desire to be on the ice competing and to be in the locker room with the guys never goes away… there`s a big part of me that really wants to give it my all, to get back on the ice and see where it takes me.”
