
The Nashville Predators have signed Matthew Wood, a former first-round draft pick, to a three-year, entry-level contract.
The team announced the signing of the winger on Saturday.
Wood, who was the 15th overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, played this past season for the University of Minnesota in the NCAA. He scored 39 points (17 goals and 22 assists) in 39 games. Before Minnesota, the 20-year-old played for two seasons at the University of Connecticut.
Prior to his college career, Wood, who was born in Lethbridge, Alberta, and grew up in Nanaimo, British Columbia, played two seasons with the Victoria Grizzlies in the BCHL (British Columbia Hockey League).
Following Minnesota`s exit from the NCAA Tournament after losing in the first round to UMass Amherst, the Predators also announced that Wood will be joining the team soon.
