Mendes named the toughest opponent of his career

MMA

UFC veteran Chad Mendes has revealed who he considers the toughest opponent in his professional career.

Reflecting on his past fights, Mendes stated that many expect him to name Conor McGregor as his toughest opponent due to McGregor`s popularity. However, Mendes clarified that this is not the case. He believes that had he been in peak condition during their fight, he would have defeated McGregor without much difficulty.

Mendes emphasized that his fight against Jose Aldo was significantly more challenging. He described Aldo as an exceptionally athletic and explosive fighter with remarkable skills in both jiu-jitsu and striking. In contrast, Mendes characterized Conor McGregor primarily as a striker, noting that when Mendes took McGregor to the ground, McGregor`s defense was limited to holding, lacking any effective offense. Mendes concluded that, in his experience, the fight with McGregor was relatively easy compared to the fight with Aldo.
