Marseille supporters voiced their discontent towards Mason Greenwood with a large banner during their Saturday match against Montpellier, which they won 5-1.

The banner, displayed prominently in the stands, targeted Greenwood and his teammate Luis Henrique, expressing the fans` frustration.

Greenwood, aged 23, has experienced a turbulent season with Marseille. Despite being Ligue 1`s second-highest scorer, he has faced criticism from manager Roberto De Zerbi for perceived lack of effort.

It now seems that a section of Marseille`s fanbase is also losing patience with the former Manchester United player.

They unfurled a banner with the message: “Greenwood, Henrique, get a move on!!!”

While interpretations vary, with some suggesting the banner urged the players to leave, it`s more likely intended as a demand for greater commitment on the pitch.

Responding to the fans` message, Greenwood delivered a strong performance, scoring twice and helping Marseille secure a 5-1 victory and move up to second place in Ligue 1.

Earlier in the season, De Zerbi expressed his expectations of Greenwood, stating, “No one can have more respect for him that I do. But that doesn’t change anything. I expect more from him. He has to do more, because what he is currently showing is not enough.”

Meanwhile, Marseille sporting director Medhi Benatia recently refuted claims that senior players Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Adrien Rabiot were unwilling to play alongside Greenwood.

French reports suggested Hojbjerg sought Greenwood and Henrique`s removal from the squad, but Benatia dismissed these rumors.

In an interview, Benatia clarified, “Can you imagine? He didn’t come to see me. And what’s more, do you think I need a player to tell me that? Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is one of the most professional in the locker room, a guy who only wants to unite and carry everyone along with him, like Rabiot. Today, Adri is dying inside, he only wants one thing: to reach the Champions League. These two are truly two examples, and at no point did they come to see me to dismiss Luis Henrique or Greenwood. The people who say that don`t want the best for OM.”
