Maple Leafs pull Joseph Woll for Matt Murray in Game 5

NHL

The Toronto Maple Leafs are now utilizing their third different goaltender during the second round of the playoffs.

Matt Murray entered the net during the third period of Game 5 against the Florida Panthers. This change occurred after Joseph Woll allowed five goals on 25 shots.

Murray spent the majority of the season playing in the AHL but has served as Woll`s backup throughout this series, following an injury to Anthony Stolarz in Game 1.

This appearance marked Murray`s first time playing in the NHL since late December. He had only participated in two games for the Leafs earlier this season. His most recent playoff experience before this was in 2020, when he was playing for the Pittsburgh Penguins.
