Reports suggest Manchester United are prepared to lower their asking price for young winger Alejandro Garnacho to £40 million this summer.
The 20-year-old was reportedly omitted from the squad for the 2-0 victory against Aston Villa on the final day of the Premier League season, following complaints about being benched for the Europa League final.
The Argentina international has reportedly been informed that he can depart Old Trafford if the club`s valuation is satisfied.
SunSport understands United originally sought £50 million for the player.
However, amidst interest from clubs like Napoli, The Guardian now claims the talented winger could move for £10 million less than the initial figure.
Chelsea are also reportedly interested in signing the player, who some regard as a misfit.
Manchester United supporters have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the reported low transfer fee being discussed for Garnacho.
On social media platform X, one fan vented, “If Man Utd sold Garnacho for £40m, everyone would be laughing at us.”
Another fan highlighted comparable transfer fees:
“Jhon Duran £65m, Nico Gonzalez £50m, Moussa Diaby £50m, Teun Koopmeiners £46.1m, Joao Felix £42m, Manuel Ugarte £42m, Galeno £42m.
Alejandro Garnacho is 20 years old, has 38 G/A in the last two seasons & is contracted until 2028 – he should cost more than £40m.”
A third supporter commented logically, “Imagine how much United would be quoted for an Argentina international of his standing. Considerably more than £40m.”
Yet another fan remarked, “That`s too ridiculous an amount, what kind of negotiation is that?”
Following his omission from the Aston Villa match, Garnacho traveled to Asia with his teammates for United`s much-discussed post-season tour.
During the tour, the winger appeared disinterested during an autograph session.
Footage also reportedly showed Garnacho involved in an altercation with a supporter.
Later that week, teammate Amad Diallo was questioned about Garnacho`s potential future at Old Trafford beyond the current summer window.
Amad Diallo responded diplomatically, stating, “Alejandro is a really good player and we need good players in the team. I know Garna really well, so I hope to have Garna next season. It is not really a big issue for the team. Everything is good now.”

Garnacho has made 144 appearances for United across all competitions, contributing 26 goals and 22 assists.
