Mendez stated confidently that Islam is “on a completely different level,” suggesting that Della Maddalena has not faced an opponent of this caliber before. He promised an “incredible show,” asserting that spectators would witness Islam competing at an “absolutely phenomenal level” and securing dominance. Addressing potential concerns about the weight class, Mendez added that it would “not be a problem” and that Makhachev would prove to be a “very competitive welterweight.” These comments were made during an interview with Submission Radio.
