Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya experienced a strange kit situation during the match against Brentford.

Raya, who previously played for Brentford, was expected to wear Arsenal`s usual bright yellow goalkeeper kit for this London derby.

However, Brentford was playing in their black away kit, which also included yellow socks.

To avoid a kit clash, Raya was required to switch to black goalkeeper socks and black shorts, similar to Arsenal`s away kit.

This change in appearance was quickly noticed by fans.

One fan commented, “Did they forget Raya’s yellow pants and socks?”.

Another fan questioned, “Why is David Raya wearing the shorts from our away kit?”.

Another person joked that Raya looked like he was wearing “lost property” due to the mismatched look.

Someone else asked simply, “Has Raya got the wrong shorts on?”.

David Raya`s professional journey in England began with Blackburn in 2014, followed by a loan to Southport in the same year.

In 2019, he joined Brentford and played for the club for five years before being loaned to Arsenal in 2023. He made a permanent move to Arsenal in 2024 and has since become their first-choice goalkeeper.

In a similar situation last year, Arsenal`s women`s team had to wear Chelsea socks bought from the Chelsea club shop to prevent a kit clash.

Before that match, the Arsenal women`s team warmed up in white socks, which clashed with Chelsea`s kit. This caused a delay in kick-off so that dark socks could be purchased from the stadium store.

Arsenal stated that they were aware of the potential kit problem several days before the Brentford match and had always intended for Raya to wear black shorts and socks with the yellow jersey.
