Liverpool has successfully agreed on a Premier League record-breaking transfer fee for Florian Wirtz.
The Premier League champions are poised to finalize the signing of the highly-rated German attacking midfielder from Bayer Leverkusen.
The agreed deal involves an initial payment of £100 million, with an additional £16.5 million in performance-related add-ons. This combined value sets a new benchmark for the most expensive transfer fee in Premier League history.
This figure surpasses the previous record of £115 million, which Chelsea paid to Brighton for Moises Caicedo in 2023.
The breakthrough in negotiations follows approximately three weeks of discussions with Bayer Leverkusen. The German club had initially demanded a higher fee of £126 million for Wirtz.
Earlier offers from Liverpool, reportedly worth £109 million and £113 million, had previously been turned down by the Bundesliga side.
Now that the transfer agreement is in place, the gifted 22-year-old midfielder is scheduled to undergo a medical examination sometime next week.
Wirtz has consistently delivered outstanding performances in the Bundesliga over the past two consecutive seasons.
His impressive form has cemented his status as one of Europe`s most coveted young footballing talents.

Liverpool actively competed against strong interest from Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich to secure the German international.
Ultimately, Liverpool`s leadership successfully convinced Wirtz that his optimal future development would be at Anfield rather than in Bavaria.
Top European clubs, including Real Madrid and Manchester City, were also reportedly among those interested in acquiring Wirtz`s services.
In both of the last two Bundesliga seasons, the attacking midfielder has achieved double-digit statistics for both goals scored and assists provided.
Wirtz joins the ranks of the Reds after contributing 10 goals for Leverkusen during the recent season, playing a key role as they finished in second place in the Bundesliga standings, behind Bayern.
