The Seattle Kraken announced on Friday that they have agreed to a contract extension with defenseman Josh Mahura.

The new agreement is a two-year, one-way deal. It carries an average annual value (AAV) of $907,500 and will keep Mahura with the team through the conclusion of the 2026-27 season.

Mahura, 27, participated in 67 games during the previous season. In those appearances, the blue-liner recorded nine points, all of which were assists. He also registered 89 hits and blocked 54 shots.

Over his seven-season career, Mahura has played in a total of 255 regular-season games. His career has included stints with the Florida Panthers and Anaheim Ducks before joining the Kraken. The six-foot, 193-pound player has accumulated 54 career points, consisting of 10 goals and 44 assists.

“Josh was an important addition to our blue line last season,” said Kraken general manager Jason Botterill in a statement. “He plays an honest, physical game and rounded out our group of defencemen. He`s also a great teammate. We`re excited to bring him back for another two years.”
