Following his recent retirement from playing, Manchester United legend Jonny Evans is reportedly set to take on a new position at the club.
The 37-year-old concluded his playing career last month, with his final competitive match being United`s last Premier League game of the season.
While his on-field contributions have ended, Evans is expected to move into a behind-the-scenes role.
According to reports, Manchester United intends to retain the former defender after his contract expired.
His new staff duties will reportedly involve overseeing loan arrangements for promising young players.
Club officials were impressed by the positive impact he had off the pitch during his recent playing spell.
He frequently advised younger squad members and educated them on the traditions and history of Manchester United.
Evans also notably spoke out in support of staff affected by job cuts last summer during the team`s pre-season tour.
The former Northern Ireland international made a total of 241 appearances for the club across two separate periods.
His first stint was from 2004 to 2015, after which he moved to West Brom.
He rejoined United on a free transfer two years ago, adding another 43 appearances.
Other players departing Old Trafford at the season`s end include Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof, whose contracts were not renewed.
Meanwhile, third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton has received an offer for a one-year contract extension.
