Joe Rogan Advocates for Fights Outside the Octagon

MMA

Veteran UFC commentator Joe Rogan has proposed a significant shift in how fights are conducted, suggesting that events should take place on a surface similar to a basketball court rather than the enclosed octagon.

Expressing his view, Rogan stated, “I don’t think fighters should fight in a cage. The octagon is an unnecessary element in the match.” He argued that the cage creates a false impression that it`s required to force fighters into action, asserting, “It gives the impression that it is needed to push the guys towards further actions. But that’s not true, there is no need for a cage.”

Detailing his alternative vision, Rogan suggested, “I believe the octagon should be replaced with something like a basketball court with a matte surface. There will be much more space.” He also outlined a potential rule modification for such a larger area, proposing that “inside it, a boundary line can be drawn. If a fighter crosses it, they will lose points.”
