The Brighton & Hove Albion match against Brentford experienced a significant delay when Jan Paul van Hecke was stretchered off the field due to a severe head clash.

Following the collision, Van Hecke received oxygen on the pitch and was promptly transported to a hospital for further evaluation. However, there is positive news as he has now been discharged.

Bart Verbruggen, Van Hecke`s teammate and fellow Dutchman, contacted the defender`s wife to offer reassurance as concern about the incident spread.

During Brighton`s 4-2 defeat to Brentford, Jan Paul van Hecke was quickly taken to the hospital wearing a neck brace after a forceful head-to-head collision with Yunus Konak.

The Brighton defender received extended medical attention and oxygen on the field before being carried off on a stretcher.

Van Hecke, 24, was later released from the hospital after undergoing precautionary examinations.

This worrying event happened late in stoppage time.

Konak, 19, also required substitution but was able to walk off the field.

During the assessment by medical personnel, Van Hecke briefly sat up before being carefully laid back down and secured onto a stretcher.

Both sets of fans applauded as the Dutch player was taken directly down the tunnel while receiving oxygen.

Sources indicate that he was transported into an ambulance while still wearing an oxygen mask and his playing kit.

His family checked on him in the dressing room but did not accompany him in the ambulance.

Van Hecke was conscious and responsive. Goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen contacted Van Hecke’s wife to reassure her as news of the collision circulated.

Brighton & Hove Albion have provided encouraging news regarding Jan Paul van Hecke`s condition.

Following the earlier incident where Van Hecke was stretchered off due to a head collision and subsequently hospitalized, The Seagulls have confirmed that he has been discharged and is returning home.

Brighton stated: “After being stretchered off at the end of today’s game, Jan Paul van Hecke was taken to hospital as a precaution but has now been discharged and is on his way back to Brighton.”
