Jamie Vardy is being widely tipped by fans to make the most “obvious” transfer move possible.
The Premier League veteran announced yesterday that he will be leaving Leicester City when the current season concludes.
Vardy, 38, holds legendary status at the East Midlands club, largely due to his pivotal role in their remarkable Premier League title victory in 2016.
Remarkably, he didn`t play in England`s top division until the age of 27, yet he went on to become one of the most prolific forwards in the competition`s history.
While a transfer to Major League Soccer (MLS) in the United States during the summer transfer window has been suggested, many fans believe his next destination will be Wrexham, the club co-owned by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
Social media users expressed their strong conviction about this potential switch.
One fan commented: “Jamie Vardy going to Wrexham seems the most obvious transfer of all time.”
Another echoed this sentiment, writing: “Jamie Vardy to Wrexham is the most predictable summer move imaginable.”
A third person stated simply: “Vardy to Wrexham is the most obvious transfer move ever.”
One prediction read: “I’m calling it now, if Wrexham get promoted I can see Vardy going there if he’s not going abroad.”
Wrexham has experienced a rapid ascent through the football leagues since being taken over by their Hollywood owners.
The Welsh side is on the verge of achieving back-to-back-to-back promotions, potentially taking them from the National League all the way to the Championship.
Bookmakers also consider Wrexham among the favourites to secure the signing of the experienced striker.
Reynolds and McElhenney have previously demonstrated their ambitious transfer aspirations, notably attempting to sign former Real Madrid star Gareth Bale before his retirement in 2023, although the move did not materialize.
Meanwhile, following the confirmation of his departure from Leicester, Vardy revealed his all-time XI of teammates from his time at the club.
His selection featured some notable absences, including England internationals like Harry Kane, Harry Maguire, and James Maddison. Interestingly, he did not include any players from the current Leicester squad in his best-ever team.
