The New York Islanders have addressed some key offseason tasks by re-signing two players.
The team announced on Friday that they have come to terms on new contracts with forward Kyle Palmieri and defenseman Adam Boqvist.
According to reports, Palmieri`s new deal is a two-year agreement with an average annual value (AAV) of $4.75 million. Boqvist signed a one-year contract reportedly valued at $850,000.
These agreements were reportedly finalized before the team officially hired Mathieu Darche as their new general manager.
Palmieri, 34 years old, completed his fourth full season with the Islanders, playing in all 82 games during the past season. He recorded 24 goals and 24 assists for the team.
The Islanders originally acquired Palmieri in a trade from the New Jersey Devils in April 2021.
Over his NHL career, the American forward has played more than 900 games for the Islanders, Devils, and Anaheim Ducks, accumulating a total of 527 points (270 goals, 257 assists).
Meanwhile, Boqvist, 24, appeared in 35 games for the Islanders last season, scoring four goals and adding 10 assists. He joined the team in January after being claimed off waivers from the Florida Panthers.
The Swedish defenseman has played 244 career NHL games across six seasons with the Islanders, Panthers, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Chicago Blackhawks, tallying 99 points (27 goals, 72 assists).
Boqvist was originally selected eighth overall in the 2018 NHL Draft by the Chicago Blackhawks from the London Knights junior team.
