Bo Horvat`s off-season is set to begin later than initially anticipated.

The New York Islanders forward is projected to be sidelined for four to six weeks after sustaining an ankle injury during the recent hockey world championship, as confirmed by general manager Mathieu Darche on Thursday.

Horvat, the 30-year-old forward from London, Ontario, left Team Canada`s roster ahead of their final group-stage game. Canada was subsequently defeated by Denmark in the quarterfinals.

During his participation in the tournament, Horvat appeared in six games for Canada, where he recorded a total of four goals, including two game-winning goals, and contributed four assists.

He is coming off a season for the Islanders where he tallied 57 points, with 28 goals and 29 assists, across 81 games. Horvat remains under contract with the Long Island team through the 2030-31 season, carrying an annual salary cap hit of $8.5 million.
