The Edmonton Oilers and Florida Panthers are set to face off in the Stanley Cup Final for the second consecutive year.
Edmonton clinched their spot in the championship round on Thursday, defeating the Dallas Stars 5-3 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final.
Captain Connor McDavid scored the game-winning goal, Edmonton`s fourth, in the second period. His team effectively countered every push from Dallas throughout the game.
This victory marks the second year in a row the Oilers have eliminated the Stars in the Western Conference Final, following their six-game series win in 2024.
Edmonton will host Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final against the defending champions, the Florida Panthers, on Wednesday, June 5. Fans will recall that last season, the Oilers, as Western Conference champions, staged a near-miraculous comeback from a 3-0 deficit in the Final before ultimately losing in Game 7.
The hockey world quickly reacted on social media to Edmonton`s series win and the anticipated rematch with Florida.
