The wider hockey community demonstrated significant support for Mark Scheifele on Saturday.

Following the Winnipeg Jets` announcement of the unexpected passing of Scheifele`s father, Brad, fans quickly responded. Reports on social media highlighted numerous donations of $55 – corresponding to Scheifele`s jersey number – made to the Winnipeg Jets` charitable foundation.

Shortly after the Jets` season concluded with a 2-1 loss to the Dallas Stars in Game 6 of their second-round series, Krista Sinaisky, a spokesperson for True North Sports + Entertainment, confirmed that over $30,000 had been collected through these $55 contributions to the True North Youth Foundation.

“This has been a wonderful outpouring of support from the hockey community on a very tough day for the Jets family. Our True North Youth Foundation is extremely grateful,” Sinaisky conveyed the foundation`s deep appreciation via email.

Fans of the Dallas Stars also participated generously in this donation drive.

Despite the difficult news received just hours before the game, Scheifele chose to play in Game 6 and scored the only goal for Winnipeg.
